'Steps to ease in communication' - Mike Jones

Workshops in Southampton, applying the concepts of NLP (neuro-linguistic programming) with the aim of creating more 'ease' in communication for people who stammer.

Mike Jones writes:

I am running a 1 day workshop on Saturday 3rd December 2011 in Southampton. It is available for about 20 people and the cost will be £30 only (tea/coffee will be provided but no lunch - you can bring your own own or there are places very near to buy sandwiches).

The workshop is suitable for those with any kind of stammer but who can speak easily sometimes (even if that's only when you're alone).

If you definitely want to come please let me know as soon as possible. You can pay on the day or secure a booking by sending me a cheque (details below).

Less is more: a 'Steps to Ease in Communication' workshop

In general the tendency is to think we have to 'work' at not stammering; we have to 'do' something extra, 'try harder' than others.
But the facts seem to point to the opposite being true because easy fluency involves using LESS mental, physical and emotional energy than stammering!

It is well known e.g. in sports and in performing arts that the best performances come when the performer 'lets go' and 'allows' their talent to emerge. This 'allowing' state has been given numerous names - flow; in the zone; centered; present; and many more.

This workshop will focus on letting go of what gets in the way of communication. If you have ever spoken easily you obviously already have the ability to speak easily, you possess that potential inside of you; but it only materialises when it's 'allowed'.   Letting go of something requires no energy; is is holding something that uses energy.

On the day you will require energy however to explore:
- what needs letting go?
- how does one do that?
- how many things do I have to let go of?
- how long does it take?

I can answer the last one now - no one can predict how long it will take because your journey will be unique to you. We can't ever let go of everything that might affect us negatively but we can let go of enough to feel more ease during communication.
No matter where you are currently in your personal journey there will be something for you in the workshop.

When: Saturday 3rd December 2011, 9:30am - 5:00pm
Where: Ibis Hotel Southampton, 9 West Quay Road, Southampton SO15 1RA
