DDA and Discrimination

Discrimination and good practice - case studies
Let us know your experiences!

We are interested in your experiences regarding employment, customer service, education, or anything else. Just fill in the form below.

Your experiences may be good or bad, for example:
Positive experiences

Perhaps your employer has supported you, or you may have helped a person who stammers. Or an employer may not have co-operated initially but you reached a satisfactory settlement when the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) was cited, possibly following a grievance procedure or tribunal application.

Also examples where the DDA or good practice has helped a person who stammers as regards customer service, education or otherwise - or where you were treated badly but your complaint produced a satisfactory resolution.

Negative experiences

Examples of discrimination, rudeness, failure to make adjustments etc. relating to stammering if there was no satisfactory resolution - regarding employment, customer service, education or anything else.

(NB: this is just to let us know what happened. If you want feedback, or to discuss it, please contact our Information and Support Service.)

If in doubt, tell us your experience anyway.

Please use the form below to let us have any experiences. If you tick the box to agree, we may publish anonymous examples on this website or elsewhere, or pass them to others.

the above information.

We will not pass your name or contact details to anyone, and if you do not tick the box we will not pass on what you say to anyone (unless, in either case, we specifically contact you and you agree).

Thank you for your help.

Why are we asking for these examples?

Part of our employment campaign is to provide practical examples of how the DDA works in real life. Managers, Jobcentre Plus Disability Employment Advisors (DEAs) and people who stammer ask us for practical examples.

It is also useful for us to have real examples of discrimination problems, to pass on to such people as the Disability Rights Commission or the Government where appropriate as examples of the need for improvement, or even for inclusion in published guidelines.

For further information, please contact Andrew Harding at ah@stammering.org, tel: 020 8983 1003.
