London Open Day 2012

Saturday 23rd June
10.30am -4.45pm
. Arrival from 10am.
at Resource for London, just 2 tube stops from King's Cross. See below
Location.

The open day will offer a range of interesting talks and workshops. There will also be plenty of time to chat and meet new people. We hope you will have fun, as well as getting a lot of interesting information.

The talks/workshops include:
-Stammering and the Brain - researchers from Oxford University talk about their findings and an opportunity to participate in their latest research
-Lynne Sowden, speech and language therapist on her 'Stammer Less' approach
-City Lit Speech therapy - 'To be or not to be... open about stammering in the workplace'
-Michael Palin Centre - workshop for parents only on confidence building and praise
-McGuire programme
-Starfish project.

The day is completely free for all participants and lunch is provided (though we will be inviting donations).

Who is the day for?

The open day is open to any adult with an interest in stammering – adults who stammer, parents with children who stammer, speech and language therapists with an interest in stammering, partners, families and friends of people who stammer.

Unfortunately we can't offer facilities for children. Teenagers under 18 are welcome if accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Let us know if you can

It would help if you could let us know you are coming, so we know how many to cater for. However, it's fine if you just turn up on the day. The more the merrier.

To let us know you're intending to come, or for more information, please email londonopenday2012@yahoo.co.uk or phone the BSA office on 020 8983 1003.

For anyone not living in London, why not make a weekend of it? London has a mass of attractions, many of them free: www.visitlondon.com.

Raffle

We have got a great raffle lined up with brilliant prizes. We are calling it the 'Ron Smith Memorial Raffle', after Ron who organised our raffles for so many years and recently passed away. All proceeds go to BSA, so please try your luck!

Location

The Open Day is at Resource for London, 356 Holloway Road, London, N7 6PA. It's about 5 minutes walk from Holloway Road station on the Piccadilly line, just 2 tube stops from King's Cross.

Their website, which includes a map, is www.resourceforlondon.

(Programme and other details of the day are subject to change.)
