Stammering knowledge seminar
Do you want to learn more about stammering and the work of the BSA?
Several members - especially the younger ones - have asked if the BSA would arrange to brief members on the current research status for stammering, provide an update on modern approaches to speech therapy and the use of speech devices, and to explain what the BSA is doing to change the world for people who stammer.
Norbert, the BSA staff, the Trustees and at least one speech therapist who specialises in stammering would be delighted to do this, providing we have at least 25 (and possibly up to 50) people who would like to attend.
We are calling this event the Stammering Knowledge Seminar. It will be informal but highly professional. We are suggesting that it takes place somewhere which would be convenient for the majority of the attendees. It would last for perhaps half a day and would probably be held on a weekend in September or October, in the period leading up to Stammering Awareness Day. There would be no charge and, although we would expect people to pay their own travel expenses, some bursaries may be available for members who would find it difficult to fund travel costs.
A lot is happening and a lot is changing in the world of stammering, so this is a good time to sit down and think about what it means to us all.
