Speaking Out

Spotlight on stammering

Surprising myself
Nigel Wilson: "My decision to put myself forward to the media for the King's Speech campaign was quite decisive, which was a big surprise to me as only a few weeks earlier I had resolved to get rid of all things I'd accumulated over the years to do with stammering...."

Cinema display in Maidstone
"When I knew that The Kings Speech was to be screened in Maidstone, I contacted the manager of the Odeon to ask if he would consider hosting a display of BSA leaflets and posters near to the screening area..."
Even speech therapists are nervous and dysfluent!
"A meeting with a colleague turned into a rapid juggling of diary commitments with requests from Radio Nottingham and ITV Central News..."
Lecturer's perspective
Roberta Williams of City University was interviewed by local radio across the country:
"Trying to raise public awareness of stammering as part of what some people do has always been a driving passion of mine..."
