London 10km run - July 2008

Some of the 10k runners...

Jamal Ali
I have a sporting background from my schooldays. However, it became difficult to find time to take part in sports at university, and this event has been a great motivating factor to get myself fit again. Running 10k was unthinkable when I started my training back in November! My fundraising target is £500, and I am hoping the BSA running team will collectively raise about £3,000.

This is my first run of this length for a number of years. I have already gained a wealth of help and encouragement from BSA and I welcome the opportunity to offer what assistance I can to further its work. In particular, I am keen to support the very important contribution made to helping children (and their parents) to get the help they need to avoid becoming adults who stammer. My target is to raise £500 and so far my training is going well (despite my somewhat advanced age).

A year or so ago I took up running (I'm more a long-distance cyclist). When Jamal mentioned the 10k run I jumped at the chance, and it is an ideal distance for me at this time. I'm delighted to have this opportunity to enter such an event. Why for the BSA? The BSA has to be every British stammerer's favourite charity! How much do I hope to raise? Probably about £500.

BSA's 8 runners completed the race despite wind and rain, and have raised over £3000 plus gift aid.

Congratulations to our 8 runners who completed the British 10K London Run on Sunday 6th July. We are enormously grateful for all your efforts in raising money for the British Stammering Association.

The race was staged in the heart of London, passing many of the capital's truly world famous landmarks, including Trafalgar Square, the London Eye and Big Ben. The 2008 British 10K London Run was the biggest yet, with over 25,000 entrants overall and many more spectators lined the course.

Interested in taking part in 2010?

We would love for you to join us in the 2010 British 10K London Run. See British 10k London Run 2010.
