'Feel the power of a bag-pack'

A team of almost 25 BSA volunteers packed shopping bags for hundreds of grateful Leeds shoppers on Easter Saturday who in turn gave £1100 to BSA's work. It's a big thank-you to the people of Leeds for their generosity, all the BSA team and Sainsbury's White Rose store who gave the event the thumbs up.

'I felt fantastic by the end of it. It was a buzz!'
The White Rose event was the second of four planned for Leeds this year in the lead-up to BSA's silver jubilee conference in Leeds from September 12-14. Organised by local speech language therapists Trudy Stewart and Gail Smith, with BSA member Howard Yaffe, bag packs are an ideal way to raise funds and awareness of stammering. The events have been a confidence booster for everyone. "I enjoyed it," said Simon Williams. "I felt the fear and did it anyway, and it was a great experience. I was anxious at first, but soon relaxed and felt fantastic by the end of it. It was a buzz!"

'People were very accepting'
"I was very heartened by people's willingness to give a pound," said Howard. Stammering is more recognised and accepted than I thought".
