Huge accolade for Colin Firth

The King's Speech
The King's Speech: Colin Firth as King George VI, with Geoffrey Rush and Helena Bonham Carter.
The British Stammering Association is delighted that Colin Firth's portrayal of King George VI and his battle with his stammer has been recognised with a Golden Globe award. It is one of those rare portrayals of stammering which leaves the audience with a better understanding into the condition.

"I have seen the film and cried through most of it as I could relate to exactly what he was going through. I think the way he portrayed the life of a stammerer was excellent. I'm telling everyone I know to go and see it."
Liz, Newcastle

Colin showed a deep insight into the struggle facing every person who stammers every day. There are 720,000 adults and children in the UK who stammer and they, too, have the right to be heard because they have a voice.

Every one of them has a story of daily courage and daily struggle to communicate what they want, what they feel and who they are.
