People who have recovered from stammering without therapy

The Department of Phoniatrics at the University of Frankfurt, Germany, under the direction of Prof. Dr. Katrin Neumann, and in collaboration with Prof. Harald A. Euler and Prof. Patrick Finn, USA, is conducting a cross-cultural study about stuttering where the person recovered after childhood. Recovered stutterers are those who did stutter in the past but now are fluent with a natural sounding speech pattern.

The aim of the study is to learn more about effective therapy from adult past stutterers who managed to achieve fluency mainly by themselves, and not (or only a little) through stuttering therapies. In this connection we are looking for people who stuttered in the past, beyond age 11, and whose stuttering then disappeared without stuttering therapy.

The study consists of an electronic questionnaire. Answering it will take about 15-20 minutes.

We would be delighted if we, with your help, could gain new knowledge on recovery from stuttering. Please email rebekka@beigebert.de.

Thank you very much for your help!

Rebekka Gebert, Prof. Dr. med. Katrin Neumann
