New sibling or other event when your stammering started?
Patricia Sims, a speech and language therapist, is interested to test the hypothesis that those who stammer are likely to have had some change in the home at the time of onset of stammering (the early repetitions).
Her theory is that a change in the home environment can cause increased excitement or tension which is expressed or released in the form of repetitions by those genetically equipped to release their excess tension in this manner. To help test this idea Patricia asks that you please complete this form for yourself or any person you know (child or adult) who stammers. Alternatively you can email her at patricia.sims@tiscali.co.uk.
