Nominations invited for BSA Scotland Committee
Are you interested in taking a leading role in BSA Scotland? If you are a BSA member living in Scotland, you can nominate yourself to stand for election to the BSA Scotland Committee.
The BSA Scotland Committee is responsible for determining the future direction and priorities of BSA Scotland (with reference to and by negotiation with the BSA General Committee, to which it is ultimately accountable).
Committee members now attend three Saturday meetings per annum (March, June and October) and are encouraged to attend BSA Scotland events. Out of pocket expenses are always paid.
The committee includes 6 elected members, as well as ex officio and co-opted members. The elected members
are be elected by the Scottish membership;
serve for a term of 3 years, with two members being replaced annually.
It is intended that a majority of the committee members should be people who stammer. Applications from parents of stammering children and speech and language therapists are also welcomed.
If there are more nominations than places, a postal election will be held over the summer.
Appointments to the BSA Scotland Committee will be ratified by the BSA General Committee at its meeting in September 2007. It is intended that the successful candidates will attend their first BSA Scotland Committee meeting in October 2008 (date tbc).
If you would like to nominate yourself, please print off and complete the nomination form (pdf file), and return it to BSA Scotland, 8 Barclay Terrace, Edinburgh EH10 4HP to arrive no later than 20 June 2008.
If you would like to discuss what would be involved in being a member of the committee, please contact Jan Anderson in the first instance at bsascotland@stammering.org or 08453 303 800.
