GSCE CD-ROM
GCSE English Oral Work CD-ROM
BSA's School CD-Roms for England

There are three CD-ROMs - one each for primary and secondary school staff in England, and one for young people preparing for the oral work in GCSE English. They were launched in October 2003.

For primary and secondary school staff | For GCSE students

Primary and Secondary School CD-ROMs

These two CD-ROMs are for staff in primary and secondary schools respectively

Primary or secondary school pupils who stammer talk about their worries and fears. We see film of authentic school situations where all the staff use best practice in support of the pupil. The film clips follow the experiences of a boy who stammers between Years 5 and 6 in the primary school CD-ROM, and between Years 9 and 10 in the secondary school CD-ROM. The CD-ROMs also include contributions from teachers, parents and speech and language therapists.

Most of us take speaking for granted and rely without thinking on that ability to communicate. Children who stammer do not have that easy fluency and ordinary speaking situations can cause them anxiety and stress. They need the support and understanding of all school staff. These CD-ROMs illustrate simple strategies to meet the needs of the pupil who stammers.

All staff in the school can use this resource to learn about stammering, as it can be used individually or be presented at a wholeschool INSET session.

The primary or secondary CD-ROM has been sent free of charge to all SENCOs in state schools in England. The CD-ROMs can also be purchased from BSA at £4.99 each (BSA shop).

Work through the CD-ROM with your speech and language therapist, a friend, your teacher or on your own. It really will help you to get the best mark you can!

You know you can do it. Build up your confidence by following the advice in the CD-ROM.
