Software for better speech

Devices like SpeechEasy and VoiceAmp are portable and expensive. There is a growing range of software that can be downloaded and in some cases used on a mobile phone or portable computer in the same way, although frequency altered feedback is not always available. Here is an overview of the main products.

Artefactsoft

The Artefactsoft Pocket DAF/FAF Assistant is a software application that combines Delayed Auditory Feedback (DAF) and Frequency Altered Feedback (FAF) techniques. There is a version for desktop PCs and a version for handheld computers running Windows Mobile 2003 for Pocket PC and Windows Mobile 5.0 operating systems.

The application is compatible with Bluetooth (wireless) headsets on those Pocket PCs that support Bluetooth headset connections.

The application provides an installation program that creates all necessary icons and shortcuts on the computer desktop.

Cost: Registered version of Pocket DAF/FAF Assistant Single User costs $69.95. Pocket DAF/FAF Assistant Professional costs $89.95.
